So I went to Saboten in Phoenix, Arizona last weekend, Sept. 30 - Oct 2. I had a wonderful time and met some great people. Here's a recap of events.
Friday- Friday is always a busy day for me because the fashion shows are always Friday night. I got to set up my vendor booth Thursday night though, so I had a lot less to cram into the vehicles. I've found that packing in those big plastic tubs is easier than suitcases, and I can generally fit more cosplay stuff into them. I had a panel on Friday all about Poison Sugar and lolita and me and I was really surprised how many people showed up to this, I honestly thought I would have a really small audience, but I had about half the room, at 3pm on a Friday, so I was thrilled! I felt so happy that people came to support me, and afterwards I had so many questions and met some great people, who I hope to see again!
Friday night we had the fashion show, I had great help setting up even under stressful conditions. Every one looked amazing and the diversity of designers was perfect. I love working with the local designers here, they are all so creative and supportive.
Saturday- Saturday I had two panels, Chemistry and Cosplay- which was a casual panel about working with paints, glues and resins. The other was my Modern Millinery panel, which went really well. Someone even posted it as one of their favorite panels. For the first time of me doing that panel it went really well. I loved doing it too, making hats has been something I really love doing, so sharing it with others makes it even better. I also got to watch the masquerade instead of be in it, and there were some skits that made me laugh so hard I cried. After being in so many masquerades there is a great feeling watching others compete, it just makes me root for everyone and feel proud of them. I cosplayed as Entei (with a Raiku) and as Virginia from Wild Arms 3.
Sunday- Sunday I co-hosted the Lolita tea party with my buddy Spence. We had great help from local lolitas and I think we had a great time. I have managed tea parties before the convention but this was my first time being part of it, and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I wouldn't mind doing it again. We had great donations from some wonderful people who I am going to pimp right now.

Antiquties- I don't have a website for them, as I don't know if they have one. But they donated these really cool clockwork parts ear cuff charms in pink and black and a tea cup hat.
Many of the other prizes were donated by me, including a Baby dress that some lucky person won. It was so fun to do a raffle, definitely be doing it again I think.
The worst part of the convention was that I didn't get to sit at my table, really at all. There wasn't very much room behind the tables. I will be sitting at the PCC table a lot, because I won't be as busy at that convention.
I want to thank everyone who stopped by and who came to my panels. I really appreciate it. The highlight of the con is when one of the girls from the tea party (Tiffany I think) came to the booth to pick up her prize and told me to keep doing what I love. It made me so happy to hear that from someone. So sweet! It really made the weekend for me.

30 day lolita challenge post 7
Day 7 – people who inspire your lolita style.
It will be hard to find 10 people for this, so I just put some.
1. Hirooka Naoto- aka H. Naoto. He is a designer that has so many layers to his brand: H. Naoto Frill, H. Naoto Blood, H. Anarchy, Hangry and Angry, hEAVEN, Hn+nois, and more. His couture stuff is amazing and even though he isn't my favorite style of lolita, his ingenious concoctions amaze me constantly and I strive to be a designer as diverse as he is.

3. The actual artists who design the prints for AP and Innocent World. I love prints and while I don't think about the artists behind them every time I see an awesome print, I do think about prints almost constantly.
I can't really think of other "people." I don't follow a ton of blogs or anything- I look at a lot of pictures and I admire a lot of companies, but not necessarily individuals. I guess I'm just not that big of a fan girl, unless your Wil Wheaton, and he has nothing to do with lolita.

30 day lolita challenge post 6
Day 6 – 10 things you can’t live without in lolita.
1. A petticoat- or three. Without that, the lolita image just isn't there (unless your in kodana, then skip the petti- you'll just look like a weirdo with a petticoat over your pants).

2. Headgear- meaning bows, hats, flowers, tea cup, rabbit, pirate ship... SOMETHING- it seems so plain without something in your hair.
3. Knee high socks- I think knee high socks are best- not to say that tights and shorter socks don't work ( I just like knee high best).
4. Lolita shoes- either rocking horse shoes or cute Mary Janes with a big heel. I like shoes with heels because, well, I'm short. I love boots too, boots with bows and hearts and cute things.
5. Wigs- now I know you might be thinking, "Wigs are not essential to lolita, you silly goose!" but 1. this is lolita according to me, and wigs are necessary and 2. I am not a goose. So yea, I like wigs, a lot, like obsessively.
6. Some lolita clothes (duh)
7. Jewelry- I try not to over do this too much, like one necklace, one bracelet, and two rings is a good max for me. Unless I'm trying to go crazy over the top.

8. Make up- yea....foundation and blush and all that. Not too much though- I want to look done up- not overdone.
9. Purse that matches! I don't think anything looks weirder than a bag that doesn't look the part. My messenger bag is cool and all, but it doesn't scream lolita, not that grey canvas. So yea, I have about 5 bags that I use with lolita.
10. A positive attitude. I think this is something you should always carry with you, but in lolita you will get plenty of weird looks, possibly rude comments or insults and possibly compliments and questions. A positive attitude will help you deal with all of these, in a way that doesn't hurt your knuckles or damage your new rocking horse shoes because you had to kick someone in the rear.

Day 4 – 10 different kinds of food you like.
Because food is TOTALLY lolita all the way.

2. Blizzards
3. Sushi
4. Japanese Curry
5. Ice Cream
6. Coffee (it is the "other" food group- deal)
7. Mashed potatoes
8. Milk Shakes
9. Fruit plates
10. Fruit and yogurt mixed with crunchy things- the best one is at Fresh and Easy.

30 day lolita challenge post 3
10 things I hate about lolita.
1. The limit of sizing for brands, a lot of the stuff I really like I can't buy because it won't fit. My broad shoulders and big boobs just aren't fitting in there

2. Prices, although I understand them better than most- a lot of AP stuff is limited and I can see hand work in it. It is also SO expensive to print your own prints. OMG- yea.
3. The low toleration of newbies, I know it's annoying to answer the same questions that you learned forever ago, but hey- we were all newbs at one point.
4. USA lolitas seem to have giant sticks up their butt about mixing the fashion with other stuff. I understand there is the style lolita, but I can still wear the dress without HAVING it be lolita. Calm down, it's a dress.
5. Shoes with snaps and buckles, the buckles work just fine- the snaps don't. I didn't pay $60 for my strap to pop off every 5 minutes. I hate how this is becoming more and more popular.
6. Cheap accessories with big price tags. It's plastic AP, PLASTIC.....why $35 for a plastic ring?
7. Replicas that actually have the name of the brand printed on the replica. Why hello Ebay, look at this Baby the Star Shine Bright replica with the name emblazoned across the bottom. Totally shameful.
8. Crazy over the top shit.
9. I'm a slob- slobs and expensive clothes just don't mix.

30 day lolita challenge post 2
Day 2 – 10 things you love in lolita.
1. I love that lolita has so many genres and that I don't have to choose to be sweet all the time or gothic all the time. I can jump between my favorite styles and be different every time I dress up.
2. My lolita friends! They are so awesome!
3. Lolita lets me express myself, I can make my own dresses and accessories and just go all out. I can be crafty and stay away from scrap booking :p
4. Angelic Pretty
5. Alice and the Pirates
6. Mini hats- this includes tricorns, boater hats, sailor hats, marching band hats, top hats...hell! any kind of hat is better in mini form.
7. Giant Hair is quite normal, I love that my hair can be like 2 feet tall and 2 feet wide. (I usually look happier with giant hair then this person)
8. Prints! I am in love with prints on fabric. I love finding prints and using prints and anticipating new prints from brands.
9. I can feel absolutely beautiful without the least bit of cleavage. I feel beautiful because I think so, and I'm not judging it based on how many men offer to buy me a drink or look at my ass.
10. It's different, what can I say- it's the hipster in me. I love that lolita is a different style than the norm and anyone else into it automatically has a bond with you.
